Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print
View of the Ferry at Rokugo, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Charming triptych depicting beauties taking the ferry across the Rokugo River at Kawasaki. In the center, a seated beauty smiles as she looks over her shoulder at the women passing on another boat. One leans against a palanquin, wearing a striped outer robe with a towel protectively wrapped around her hairstyle. Another beauty sits inside the palanquin dressed in a checked kimono. The white peak of Mt. Fuji rises in the distance above the shoreline dotted with pine trees. An attractive design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 29 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Losses and wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
