Flowers, 1847 - 1852

Series; Snow, Moon, and Flowers

Flowers, 1847 - 1852 - Beautiful spring scene of Prince Genji and a group of beauties on an outing to view the blossoming cherry trees. At left, a servant spreads a cloth over a bench as Genji leans against a flowering tree, smiling as his companions arrive. A sword bearer kneels beside him, holding his weapon upright. At right, a beauty climbs the hill carrying a large cushion under her arm, accompanied by a woman with an elegant lacquer tobacco set. More women and young girls follow, one of the girls holding a large doll. A beautiful view overlooking the lake and garden surrounding a mansion. Lovely detail in this attractive triptych, including embossing on the prince's pink under robe and the white kimono trim. A great choice for display.
