Seventh Month: Tanabata Festival at Sujikai Mitsuke Crossroads, 1889 - Attractive Chikanobu design from his triptych series depicting the seasonal entertainments of upper-class ladies in Edo throughout the year. In this subject, women enjoy a walk during the Tanabata Festival at Sujikai Mitsuke Crossroads, banners flying high over the city in the background. At right, a young girl reaches forward eagerly for a bowl held out by a street vendor in a tie-dyed kimono. In the center, a young boy carrying a parcel wrapped in green cloth around his shoulders stops to wave at a small dog following along at his feet. Behind them, a nobleman's procession crosses the square. A charming design, beautifully detailed.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, left panel backed with paper. A few small losses at edges and thinning spots, repaired. Creasing, slight soiling, ink offsetting, a few small stains, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
