Beauty with a Doll

Comments - Attractive portrait of a beauty holding up a doll, smiling as she looks back over her shoulder. Her kimono is shaded from brown to blue, patterned with tie-dyed weeping cherry blossoms at the top and irises bordering the hem, tied with a golden yellow obi. Behind her, a large fan-shaped inset depicts a view of a shrine, with a red torii gate along the street at lower left, and the rooftops and pagoda of the shrine rising above the tree tops. A lovely design in an interesting format, with fine shading in the clouds and sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Horizontal and vertical folds. Loss at edge, a few small holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
