Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Eavesdropping, 1856

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo V as a man eavesdropping outside a door. He tilts his head with a sly expression as he listens, lifting the edge of his striped outer kimono with one hand. Inside the room at right, the edge of a brazier can be seen at upper right, with a pile of wood below. Nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Stitching holes at right edge from previous binding, a few small holes, repaired. Creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
