Sudden Evening Shower, 1901 - Lovely image of a beauty reaching for an insect cage hanging from the eaves above a verandah as a sudden evening shower begins. Under a slanting rain, orange bolts of lightning zigzag across sky, a huge thundercloud towering looming behind the pagoda in the distance at lower right. The beauty wears an informal blue and white cotton kimono, a black obi that reverses to lavender loosely tied around her waist. Her long hair falls straight over her back. A striking image with beautiful detail and fine bokashi shading in the sky.
