47 Ronin, Act 1: Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine: The Helmet Inspection - Handsome kabuki double portrait from Act 1 of the classic 47 ronin drama "Kanadehon Chushingura." When Lady Kaoyo, the wife of Lord Hangan, comes to the palace to identify the battle helmet of a fallen samurai. Lord Moronao makes unwanted advances towards her, trying to slip her a love letter. He kneels beside her with a fan in one hand and the message in the other, looking up with a frown as she rejects him. She bows her head with a demure smile, pulling at the edge of her floral outer kimono. Her long hair falls over her back, adorned with a cluster of tiny blue flowers. Nice expressive figures.
