Couple on a Bridge in Winter, 1858

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a couple crossing a snow-covered bridge. The beauty pauses to look back at her companion, smiling as she lifts the edge of her robe. He stares back at her with a worried frown, leaning forward with his feet spread firmly apart. He carries a parcel wrapped in green cloth over his shoulder, and wears a striped kimono lined with a butterfly print and tucked up at the waist, over black leggings. Buildings line the opposite shore, with a pleasure boat is moored near the center. Nicely composed, with handsome wood grain impression in the blue sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 19 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. Small loss and thinning at corner, a couple small wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, light staining, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
