Ichimura Kakitsu IV as the Yakko Setsuhei, 1864

Comments - Handsome portrait of Ichimura Kakitsu IV as the yakko or footman Setsuhei in the kabuki play "Soga Moyo Tateshi no Gosho-zome." He looks over his shoulder with an unhappy frown, an open songbook in one hand and a pointer in the other. He wears a blue striped kimono over a red under robe, tied with a black obi and a striped sash knotted in the front. His hair is pulled into a knot at the back of his head, a few loose wisps framing his face. An expressive figure, with bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Horizontal centerfold. Small loss at edge, a few wormholes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
