Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print
Falcon on a Snow-covered Pine Kakemono, circa 1840 -1842

Comments - Terrific kakemono or vertical diptych of a hawk perched on a snow-covered pine tree. The bird looks keenly over its back as snow falls through the wintry gray sky, its feathers intricately detailed. The rugged bark of the trunk is nicely rendered, the snow caught in the crevices adding a sense of the rough texture. A great composition, beautifully suited to the vertical format.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 27 7/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels. Small losses and tears at edges, a few holes, repaired. Toning, creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
