Comments - Intriguing winter scene of a samurai visiting his mother, who is in hiding in a rustic house in the mountains. The young warrior sits on the porch, still wearing his straw raincoat and carrying a wooden chest on his back. The samurai's mother stands beside him in the snow, holding a flaming torch and looking back over her shoulder with a worried expression to see if her son was followed. Inside, a young woman offers him a tray with a cup of tea as she kneels beside a spinning wheel. An interesting subject with a beautifully detailed natural setting. Includes embossing in the white kimono trim, and fine bokashi shading in the background, and a dusting of mica along the darker edge of the mountain at left.
