Comments - Handsome illustration of the Japanese Army and Navy engaged in military maneuvers. Large warships line the shore as small boats convey troops to the landing site, where soldiers are already engaged in a mock battle. At lower right, men fire a cannon, while the Meiji Emperor and his advisors view the exercises from lower left. An interesting historic subject with an attractively detailed setting. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
