Original Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892) Japanese Woodblock Print
Picture of the Railroad at Takanawa, 1871

Comments - Terrific view of the railroad at Takanawa, running along a curving embankment near the shore of Shinagawa Bay. The engine of the first train at left is filled with foreign passengers, followed by a U.S. Mail car with misspelled English on the side. Boats move along the canal between the embankment and shore, one covered by a strange arched canopy. The roadway at right is crowded with pedestrians, rickshaws, and a horse-drawn carriage. An incredible and rare Yoshitoshi design, wonderfully detailed and brightly colored.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. Small loss at edge, a few small tears, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
