Series; Comparison of Beauties of the Southern Quarter
Courtesan Konosumi - Lovely okubi-e or large head portrait of the courtesan Konosumi holding a round fan decorated with a landscape of Shinagawa showing boats on the sea and a poem above. Her hair is pulled back into a sleek bun, ornamented with a large comb and many decorative hairpins. Wonderful soft color and fine detail. An outstanding design that would make a lovely framed display. The series title refers to the pleasure quarter at Shinagawa, known as the "Southern Quarter" because it was south of Edo Castle. A beautiful design with fine line work and attractive color. Seldom seen in reprint.
