The Precincts of the Benten Shrine at Susaki, circa 1839 - 1842 - Handsome view looking out to sea from Benten Shrine in Susaki, the scene framed by tall pine trees. Visitors crowd the walkways and tea stalls on the grounds, with the torii gate and shrine building rising at left. In the distance at right, people are busy gathering shellfish at low tide, and sails dot the horizon. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. An attractive design with soft shading in the water and sky.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 8 5/8" x 13 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Vertical folds near sides. Thinning along vertical centerfold, a few small losses at edges and holes, repaired. Toning, slight soiling and staining, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
