Series; True Beauties, 1897 - 1898

Beauty with a Writing Brush - Attractive portrait of a beauty pausing to look up as she writes a poem slip, a writing brush or fude in her hand, the tip covered in ink. One elbow rests on a green cloth covered table, with an ink stone at left. She wears an intricately patterned kimono in blue, white, and tan, over an under robe with a black collar with flowing blue water and other motifs, tied with a blue brocade obi. Her hair is pulled back into a sleek bun adorned with a red lacquer comb and two decorative hairpins, with a bright blue ribbon peeping from beneath the bun. A charming design, beautifully detailed with embossing in the red and blue trim at the edge of the sleeves.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 11 7/8" x 8 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Faint toning at edges, a couple small spots, a few light creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
