Series; Forty-eight Hawks Drawn from Life, 1859

Forty-eight Hawks Drawn from Life - Terrific design from Sugakudo's most well-known series, "Forty-eight Hawks Drawn from Life," first published in 1859. A student of Hiroshige, Sugakudo was known for his high quality kacho-e, prints of birds and flowers. This lovely series depicts many varieties of birds in their natural habitats, carefully observed and drawn with fine detail and attractive color. Many feature deluxe techniques such as embossing in the feathers. A favorite with collectors, these attractive subjects are a wonderful choice to collect or display.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, small satin at edge, a few light creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
