Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of an actor in the role of a fireman on his way to a fire at night. He wears a beautifully quilted fireman's jacket patterned with peony blossoms and curling lion fur. He looks up over his shoulder with a slightly worried expression, watching as other fireman hurry behind him carrying glowing paper lanterns. Hand-applied silver pigment is spattered across the dark night sky to represent ashes or embers drifting from the fire. Wonderful detail in the intricate quilting.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight separation along vertical fold near left edge, a few wormholes, repaired. Creasing and soiling, a few spots, rubbing along fold. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
