Tattooed Commoner, 1858

Comments - Handsome kabuki double portrait of two men in the interior of a shop. The commoner sitting on the floor looks up at his companion with an expression of dismay as he pats the back of his head. He wears a striped kimono over a black undergarment, one sleeve pushed down to show off his extensive upper body tattoo of a serpent or dragon with a sinuous body. The standing man glares down at him angrily, a pipe in one hand and a white towel draped over his shoulder. An interesting subject, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
