Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Scene in the Third Month, circa 1815 - 1821

Comments - Lovely portrait of a beauty preparing to retire for the evening. She peers around the edge of a folding screen patterned with blossoming cherry trees and golden clouds, smiling slightly. Her red tie-dyed outer robe is trimmed with brown and blue floral brocade, worn over a pink kimono bordered with black flowers and tied with a blue plaid obi. Her hair is pulled back into a sleek bun, adorned with tortoiseshell combs and hairpins, and a blue ribbon. Black, fuzzy futons are stacked behind her next to an ornate lacquer tobacco set. A beautiful Edo era beauty print, with wonderful color and detail, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
