Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Courtesan with a Dragon Obi Kakemono

Comments - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of an elegantly dressed courtesan. She wears a tan kimono decorated with what appear to be three-dimensional cherry blossoms, trimmed with layers of brocade patterned with paulownia blossoms and leaves. Her black obi features a striking design of a dragon and swirling clouds. She looks back over her shoulder with a smile, her long hair combed back over her shoulders and adorned with tortoiseshell hairpins and combs. A handsome image, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 28 7/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. One small thinning spot, repaired. Toning, slight soiling and rubbing, a few small spots and creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
