Series; Forty-eight Famous Views of Edo, 1860 - 1861

Hachiman Shrine at Fukagawa and Benten Shrine at Susaki - Rare, uncut page featuring two prints from Hiroshige II's "Forty-Eight Famous Views of Edo." This handsome series was published from 1860 to 1861, quite early in Hiroshige II's career. These attractive scenes feature classic views of famous landmarks and beautiful scenery in and around Edo, in a variety of seasons. From temples surrounded by blossoming cherry trees to busy harbors or crowded streets, these charming images capture life in old Edo in colorful detail. The left image is "Hachiman Shrine at Fukagawa" and the right image is "Benten Shrine at Susaki."

Image Size - Each image 8 3/4" x 6 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight soiling, a few creases, faint diagonal fold near top of right image. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
