Hitomoto of the Monji-ro

Comments - Terrific portrait of the young courtesan Hitomoto of the Monji-ro clutching a pillow wrapped in tissues. She wears several layers of elegant kimono, one patterned with paulownia leaves and blossoms against a soft plum ground. Her hair is pulled back into a large bun, ornamented with several hairpins and a red cloth bow. A beautiful design with a lovely muted color palette, enhanced with a soft shimmering mica background. Very nice. Published by Kyoto Hanga-in with publisher's seal in left margin.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Drying hole at top left. Slight paper remnants at near left corners from previous folio mounting, slight soiling, a few light creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
