Hiding a Knife

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of Ichikawa Danjuro as a commoner hiding a knife behind his back. He stares over his shoulder with a grim expression, wearing a plaid kimono with a dotted towel draped around his neck. The two women at left titter excitedly as they watch with intense interest, one actually grinning happily as she focuses on the blade. Nice large figures set off by a deep red background, detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 19 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
