Decorated Paper

Series; Eight Favorite Things in the Modern World

Decorated Paper - Lovely portrait of a courtesan pensively looking down over her shoulder, her mouth slightly agape. She holds a roll of tissues in one hand and an ornate detailed pipe in the other, her hand hidden beneath her red tie-dyed under robe. She wears an elegant green kimono patterned with chrysanthemums and trimmed with a black floral collar. Her hair is arranged with many butterfly hairpins and a blue ribbon. At upper left are pictured the decorative papers of the title, one printed with bats in flight. A charming subject.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 10 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. One small hole, repaired. Light toning, slight soiling and creasing, a couple faint stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
