Series; Light Makeup of Present Times
Beauty with a Hand Mirror, circa 1820s - Charming portrait of a beauty checking her appearance in a black lacquer hand mirror, patting the side of her face, a roll of tissues between her teeth. Her print kimono is loosely wrapped about her, with one end of her black obi trailing to the floor. At right, a blue and white towel hangs over the edge of a low folding screen decorated with woodblocks, including a fan print of a wild boar. The circular cartouche at upper right takes the form of the toshidama seal used by the Utagawa school of artists. An attractive design from a rarely seen series.
Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)
Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/2"
Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous hinge mounting. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
