Comments - Terrific contemporary print of a traditional Japanese geisha house, the verticals of the shoji windows and panels creating a rhythmic grid stretching across the page, punctuated by heavier black posts and intersected by horizontals. The round umbrellas decorated with a spiral and concentric bands break up the strict geometry with colorful notes. Near the bottom center, a black and white cat peers around the edge of an open door, and furnishings can be glimpsed in the room to the right. The watery surface of the pavement below reflects the building above in more subdued blue-gray tones. A fantastic limited edition Karhu subject in an unusually large format, with a desirable early edition number.
