Beauties Relaxing

Comments - Charming scene of three beauties relaxing in an interior. At right, a young woman giggles into the back of her hand, several books on the floor before her. Her companion in the center smiles back at her as she holds a small bottle. She sits next to a red lacquer makeup chest with a mirror atop it, her kimono shaded from blue to lavender with a pattern of pink flowers. The beauty at left carries a biwa or lute, smiling as she watches a cat playing with a ball, crouching and ready to pounce on the toy. Lovely color and detail in the elegant kimono and obi fabrics, with burnishing in the hair.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Light ink offsetting, slight soiling, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
