Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Shower of Rain in Sunshine at Nihonbashi - Fantastic Hiroshige woodblock showing pedestrians huddled under umbrellas crossing the Nihonbashi Bridge during a rain shower. Warehouses line the shore of the Sumida River, and the walls and towers of the castle can be seen above the trees at upper right. Mt. Fuji rises in the distance above the faint warm glow of sunshine along the horizon. A terrific image with wonderful detail and fine bokashi shading.
