Imari Porcelain, Hizen Province - Published in 1877, Hiroshige III's series "Pictures of Products and Industries of Japan" depicts local industries across the country. Subjects include farming, fishing, mining and harvesting natural resources, and traditional crafts and products. This design shows the production of Imari porcelain, with workers processing clay and using wheels to shape bowls. This wonderfully detailed series offer a terrific look at the wealth of resources and the wide variety of products available in Meiji era Japan.
