Ceremony at Aoyama, 1889 - Interesting triptych depicting the Meiji Emperor reviewing during a ceremony at Aoyama. He sits astride a light tan horse at center, wearing a fine black uniform covered with medals and a red sash across the chest. Other officers on horseback wait behind him, while a solider gallops ahead on a brown horse carrying a standard bearing the Meiji Imperial crest. Rows of troops stand at attention around the edge of the parade ground, with tents visible behind the men at left. An intriguing subject, nicely detailed, with Mt. Fuji rising in the distance against a blue sky scattered with clouds.

Artist - Toshitada (1868 - 1934)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 27 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. A few small and thinning spots, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, faint stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
