Beauties under a Cherry Tree, 1882 - Interesting kabuki scene of three beauties beneath a blossoming cherry tree. The woman at right grins happily as she looks up, holding a sake cup delicately between her fingers. The young beauty at left bites her handkerchief anxiously, looking fearfully out of the corner of her eyes at her companion in the center. She frowns unhappily back at her as she carries a sake kettle with a long spout. Each woman wears a white vest shaded in yellow over a colorful kimono, and the two outside figures have a black and white hat hanging over their shoulders. The large figures are set off by a deep red background, and are nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and burnishing in the hats.
