Original Jinbo Tomoyo (1902 - 1994) Japanese Woodblock Print
Portrait of a Beauty

Comments - Lovely portrait of a beauty looking down as she adjusts her hair, the soft bun adorned with a lacquer comb with dragonflies. Her kimono features a coral and white tie-dyed pattern over the shoulders, which shades into deep red with a stylized pattern of snow, leaves, and pine needles, tied with an aqua obi with a cherry blossom design. The white kimono collar is deeply embossed with a geometric and flower pattern. Beautifully detailed with bokashi shading and embossing in the hair, which gives it a rounded appearance, touches of mica on the dragonflies, and a delicate embossed line contouring the side of the nose. A classic shin hanga beauty portrait by this rarely seen artist, whose works are not often seen in the market.
