Enjoying the Evening Cool on the Banks of Sumida River

Comments - Beautiful Utamaro triptych of beauties strolling along the Sumida River enjoying the fireworks display and the cool evening weather. The crowded Ryogoku Bridge and many boats are silhouetted in the background against an evening sky. In the center panel, a man fires a rocket from a boat, a trail of red sparks curling across the sky. A fantastic design showing this classic summer pastime in Edo, with beautiful soft color, bokashi shading, and fine detail. Would make a great framed presentation. Published by Takamizawa with publisher's seal on reverse of each panel.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 15 1/4" x 30 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Faint toning, spot in margin, a couple light creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
