Spring Plum Blossoms

Comments - Lovely scene of visitors at a garden enjoying the plum blossoms in early spring. At right, a nobleman sits on a cushion, one arm resting against a railing and the other holding a long pipe. He smiles at the beauty in the center, who carries a flowering branch wrapped in paper. Pedestrians stroll about the grounds and relax on benches as they enjoy a cup of tea or smoke a pipe. A waitress in a striped kimono at right carries a tray with cups, another woman working in the tea stand behind her. Lovely color and detail in this attractive subject, which includes light embossing in the white kimono trim.
