Series; Twelve Months of Beauties
October: Maple Viewing, 1899 - Lovely triptych depicting beauties enjoying an October outing to view the maple leaves. In the center, a beauty climbs a hill, pausing to look back over her shoulder. She carries a black Western style umbrella with a metallic silver handle, and her checked obi features silver accents that have oxidized to a darker tone as well. Several people stroll across a wooden bridge, stopping to admire the view beneath the colorful leaves of a maple tree. A beautiful design with burnishing in the women's hair and on the ribs of the black umbrella, and fine bokashi shading in the background.
