Sumo Ring Entering Ceremony - Interesting triptych depicting a group of high-ranking sumo wrestlers gathered for the ring entering ceremony. Each wears a special ceremonial belt with a fringed apron in the front, worn specifically for this ritual. The young wrestler in the center stamps his foot, sending the fringed trim of his garment flying, his hands spread out at his side. Two attendants crouch behind him, one carrying a sword upright. At left, a sumo sits in an armchair holding a glass goblet of sake. At right, three men exchange angry and worried expressions, paying no attention to what else is going on around them. An intriguing subject and a nice choice for an enthusiast of this ancient sport.
