Challenging a Musician on a Boat - Intriguing kabuki scene of a musician on the deck of a boat, his shamisen behind him, throwing out his hand in alarm as the samurai at right thrusts a sword at him. The musician stares at the boatman at left with a worried frown his lips tightly closed. The boatman glares at him, gripping his oar, the sleeves of his boldly pattern kimono pushed down to the waist, revealing his tie-dyed shirt. Large woven trunks tied with ropes are stacked behind the samurai at right, and a mast frames a view of the calm water beyond. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting, well-detailed.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical fold near right edge of each panel. Slight separation along folds, a few small losses at edges and small holes, repaired. Creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
