Wife of Tokugawa Yoshimune, No. 8

Series; Wives of the Tokugawa Shoguns, 1879

Wife of Tokugawa Yoshimune, No. 8 - Terrific image of a wife of the eighth shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune, as her attendant straightens her colorful outer kimono. The beauty smiles as she looks over her shoulder, her outer kimono slipping off her shoulders to show an embossed white under robe tucked into red hakama pants. From a verandah behind them, three ladies giggle behind their fans and kimono sleeves. A charming scene with fine detail and color.
