Beautiful Court Ladies in Spring: A Performance of the Play Dojo-ji by the Kita School of Noh, 1880

Comments - Attractive scene depicting members of the Imperial court watching a Noh theater performance of the play "Dojoji" at the Kita School of Noh. An actor kneels on the stage at left, cowering behind his kimono sleeve under a large green temple bell as the jealous beauty Kiyohime stares at him from under a robe draped over her head. Palace ladies-in-waiting sit quietly at left on the floral carpet, Handsomely detailed with rich vibrant color. An interesting subject.
