Series; Japanese and Chinese Comparisons for the Chapters of Genji

Suzuki Saemon Shigeyuki Lying in Wait, 1855 - Terrific scene of the warrior Suzuki Saemon Shigeyuki hiding in a clump of brush, waiting to ambush Nobunaga. He rises out of the grasses along the edge of a river, aiming his pistol as Nobunaga rides his horse along the opposite shore. Shigeyuki wears a straw raincoat over his armor, his hair tied back with a white headband and his hat in hand. Nobunaga pauses to look out over the country, wearing a horned battle helmet and holding a folding fan. Two samurai on horseback follow along the trail behind him. A great image with a wonderfully detailed natural setting and attractive color. An intriguing comparison for the Chapter 40, "Minori," from the "Tale of Genji."
