Arai, 1855

Series; The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido by Two Brushes

Arai, 1855 - Unusual image of a young boy displaying his privates to an elderly woman, who peers at him through a monocle or eyeglass. The landscape above by Hiroshige features a spit of land extending across a bay to a large, gently rounded island dotted with pine trees. A very small rocky island can be seen at right, with steep cliffs lining the shore. An interesting subject, attractively colored. A variant edition with a colored background.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown
