Agitated Fireman

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of an agitated fireman throwing his hand out in a stopping gesture, leaning forward as tries to catch someone's attention. He wears a rust colored coat over a blue kimono patterned with red lightening bolts and black and gray thunderclouds. The inset at upper right shows another fireman wearing a matching robe over a quilted shirt, gripping the handle of a tool before him. Bolts of cloth are shown at upper left, the black fabric burnished and patterned with writing. Nice expressive figures, with additional burnishing in the black undergarment and the black cord of the coat.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 12 7/8" x 8 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Vertical and horizontal folds. Three small holes, repaired. Faint ink offsetting, slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
