Series; Eight Views of the Pleasure Quarters

Nioteru of the Ogiya, circa 1825 - Lovely portrait of the courtesan Nioteru of the Ogiya, sitting beside a lamp with a slender pipe in her hand. Her citron yellow outer kimono is patterned with floral medallions, edged with a blue vine print and worn over layers of black pine print under robes. Her blue obi has a delicate cloud design circular phoenix motifs. She looks down, just her eyes and nose visible above her many kimono, her haired elaborately styled with many hairpins and combs. An inset at upper right shows the entrance to a teahouse, with pink cherry blossoms framing the scene. A classic Edo era beauty portrait with wonderful color.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
