Series; Famous Places in Edo

New Yoshiwara, 1858 - Handsome view looking down on the New Yoshiwara in spring, with blossoming cherry trees rising above the street. Teahouses stretch across the scene, with red paper lanterns hanging from the eaves, and blue curtains framing the shops below. A few umbrellas can be seen as beauties move about the area. A large bank of softly shaded clouds implies the distance from the city, with tiny figures in dark silhouette past fields at upper right. An interesting perspective.

Artist - Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869)

Image Size - 8 1/4" x 13 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Stitching holes in left margin, thinning and small tears at top and bottom edges, a few small holes, repaired. Light staining, creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
