Series; Famous Views of Tokyo

Visiting Ueno Park, 1898 - Terrific view of the young Crown Prince and ladies of the royal court visiting Ueno Park to view the cherry blossoms. The boy stands in the center next to his companions, wearing a black military uniform and cap, and red striped stockings. Two guards follow behind him in black jackets, red pants, and black leather boots. The entrance gate to the shrine frames the plaza at left, with shops lining the walkway at right. The pagoda spire rises high above the pines and flowering trees covered with bright pink blossoms. A handsome design and a rare depiction of the Meiji Crown Prince.
