Watanabe no Tsuna Fighting the Demon of Rashomon, 1900

Comments - Fantastic triptych depicting the warrior Watanabe no Tsuna fighting a demon on horseback. After hearing about mysterious happenings near Rashomon Gate, Watanabe no Tsuna went to investigate. He encountered a beautiful young woman, but she soon changed into a demon. Here, Tsuna grabs the arm of the snarling creature as it gallops past, pulling the monster off-balance as he reaches for his sword. He frowns intently as he lunges to the side, putting his weight into the struggle to unseat the rider. The demon leers at down him with bulging eyes and an open mouth showing fangs. White hair flows around the creature's horned head, a white robe billowing in the air around it. An incredible image from this legendary tale, the large colorful figures set off by a simple shaded gray background. Detailed with embossing in the white hair.
