Maiko in Summer

Comments - Lovely portrait of a young maiko or apprentice geisha standing on a verandah, enjoying the breeze as evening falls. She wears a beautifully detailed kimono patterned with delicate flowers between bands of orange tied-dyed fabric. She holds a fan as she rests a slender hand on the verandah railing. The annual display of bonfires on Mt. Daimonji can be seen in the distance, part of the Bon Festival each summer. An attractive design with beautiful shading and color. Published by the Uchida Art Company in Kyoto.
