Hakoomaru Leaving the Buddhist Temple to Avenge His Father - Terrific image of the Hakoomaru (the young Goro Soga) leaving the Buddhist temple where he has been studying to become a monk. Instead, he plans to avenge his father's death. He ties his straw hat tightly under his chin as he frowns defiantly. He wears a red kimono patterned with spotted deer and maple leaves, tucked into blue hakama pants. The trees and mountains are shadowed in dark gray as night falls, providing an ominous setting for the brave young warrior going off into the world.
