47 Ronin Discovering Moronao

Comments - Fantastic triptych from the famous 47 Ronin story depicting the discovery of Lord Moronao during the night attack on his palace. The scene takes place in the snowy courtyard, the ronin at left holding a lantern high to identify the cowering lord, who thrusts out his arms in a frightened gesture. In the center the leader of the ronin, Oboshi Yuranosuke offers him Lord Hangan's dirk wrapped in cloth with which to commit suicide, but the cowardly lord refuses. Two other warriors prepare to swing their swords. A dramatic moment from this great story, and a bold colorful design.
